The Island of Reunion is a land with a thousand faces, an ethnic mix reflecting four centuries of history and the arrival of peoples from around the world (Africa, Asia, Europe, India, Madagascar). A cultural and ethnic melting pot that gives the Island of Reunion its status as a unique destination: an island where different traditions and religions coexist harmoniously, an island where the difference is a source of wealth.

The Ethnic Diversity Freedom Festival refers to an important moment in history: the abolition of slavery, rooted in the history of Reunion.
Initiated by the Reunion Region in 2010, the Ethnic Diversity Freedom Festival is a unifying cultural get together, convivial and not to be missed.
The public will discover exhibitions on freedom and ethnic diversity. Free events and concerts.

The 6th edition of Ethnic Diversity Freedom Festival will take place, this year, from 19 to 20 December 2015, on the waterfront of Ste. Mary, place of open market, and will have the theme of “Street Art”.
The entrance to the "town Kréol" free and meet various associations will propose workshops, exhibitions / sales and entertainment during these two days (making frescoes, facilitating a cultural mediation workshop, storytelling workshop, “a book, deckchair,” operation, demonstration and creation of “lontan” games, making traditional musical instruments, coconut palm braiding introduction, demonstration / exhibition about the pestle with a demonstration on how to make one, tasting lontan products, traditional cuisine, information about vanilla, herbal tea, geranium, embroidery, etc). Concerts by bands from Reunion, are scheduled from 5:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. (Baster, Kaf Malbar, Frédéric Joron, Famille Manyan, Destyn Maloya, Yaëlle Trulès….)
