“There all is order, naught amiss / Comfort and beauty, calm and bliss.” These lines from “Invitation to the voyage” by Charles Baudelaire seem to have been written just for Reunion Island, as the island has so many enchanting sites to offer.

The architecture is hardly extravagant: beauty is born of the harmony between the elegant spaces and impressive, natural scenery, a true sign of pure luxury. Here you will start a journey in which the senses are satisfied, the body at peace and the mind allowed to relax. With an air of a moored vessel on the water’s edge, the Le Saint Alexis**** hotel and spa in Saint-Gilles-les-Bains presents immaculate columns which conjure up images of palm trees. The 500m² pool and the beach lapped softly by the waves are yours to enjoy, as are the relaxing treatments at the Spa.

The next day, it’s off to the Bassin Bleu Golf Club – an 18-hole course favoured by professionals, facing the ocean and nestled in a eucalyptus forest. The ideal mix of pleasure and relaxation. Le Kaolin, the golf wellbeing space, will welcome you for treatments before lunch. Upon returning to the hotel, drinks by the pool kick-start the evening before dinner overlooking the lagoon.

The following morning, you can get up with the sunrise to discover the Belvédère du Maïdo and the view of the Mafate cirque, the most savage of Reunion Island’s cirques. From the top of the slope, the îlets (groups of homes) look like dolls’ houses! A little further you will find the Maison du Géranium. Let yourself be surrounded by the unique fragrances of geranium, vetiver and cryptomeria, whose essential oils are collected using a traditional distilling process. These luxury scents are bought by the world’s greatest perfumeries to be used in high-end perfumes. The aromas are also used in meals, and can be enjoyed at the restaurant Chez Bazou.

When you get back to the hotel, give in to the Spa and its selection of offers, including luxurious treatments with ginger and citrus fruits, or sensory delights for two…

Your next morning day in paradise is dedicated to intense emotions. Climb into a helicopter and discover the island’s incredible natural beauty, classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The Trou de Fer, the Piton de la Fournaise (one of the most active volcanoes in the world!), the three cirques (Mafate, Cilaos and Salazie, with its dizzying waterfalls) before flying alongside the coastline. And maybe you’ll be lucky enough to watch sea creatures dancing through the waves
At the Lodge Roche Tamarin & Spa**** in the higher areas of La Possession, you can spend a night in the charming wooden chalets, with their ocean-facing terraces. At the wellbeing space, sit back and enjoy the steam room and sauna. Finish off the day with a yoga lesson. Yoga began in India, and was used by plantation workers on the island in the 19th century. Afterwards, a candlelit dinner will leave your body and mind at peace.

Enjoy the hotel’s spa treatments on the fifth day, including the Supreme Relaxation massage followed by the longevity space at the Body Harmony Spa. Lunch will be spent in the bustling boating port in Saint-Gilles-les-Bains, before boarding the Cata Passion for a trip on the water. Take in the incredible turquoise seawater, fish, turtles, dolphins and whales until the aperitif served on-board as the sun goes down.

You can do as you please the following morning, before travelling to the south to the Palm Hotel & Spa*****, with its luxurious, Zen ambiance and a view of the Grand’Anse white sandy beach. The hotel is not far from the volcano, the Etang-Salé black sandy beach and the Cilaos cirque. At Akéa Spa & Beauty, enjoy treatments inspired by natural products in the Indian Ocean, before returning to the hotel for dinner and the night.
On the seventh morning, you decide! Treatments are offered, and lunch is served at the hotel. Walk off your meal with an easy stroll to the Piton Grand’Anse. This walk is short and enjoyable, bringing you to the Grand’Anse beach, a hotspot for locals picnicking at the weekend. At this height, the ocean seems enormous, and you can watch the famous reunionese tropical birds flying just above the water. Dolphins can sometimes be observed early in the morning or before dusk, and whales make an appearance during the cool season. While you’re there, feel free to take part in a yoga or acro-yoga session, before returning to the hotel for a delicious dinner and a night of relaxation.

For the last day, enjoy the Spa treatments at the hotel and bring home some unforgettable memories
