Hiking gîte at Salazie
  • Gîte de Bélouve in Salazie has 2 double rooms available along with 30 dormitory places in dormitories sleeping from 6 to 12 people.

    The property includes a picnic area with summerhouse and orientation table providing panoramic views of the Cirque de Salazie, a grassed camping ground, and the tamarind museum. The car park is 400 metres away from the gîte, which is a departure point for a range of hikes, including Trou de Fer, Sentier de la Vierge, Sentier des Tamarins and Sentier du Piton des Neiges via Cap Anglais. The Hauts de l'Est rainforest is also very well worth taking a look at. Picnic basket, breakfast and dinner available upon reservation 48 hours beforehand.
    Information : The Bélouve forest has become the first natural area accessible to everyone thanks to its innovative approach : the trail "Somin Tamarin" specially designed for people with reduced mobility and for partially-sighted persons.
    The museum area located in a separate building left to the gîte tells the history of the cable car "Paul Charly".
    It ‘s also possible to visit the museum area, free of charge and by yourself every day from 9a.m to 4p.m, except on Wednesday. Audio guides available upon request.
    Bath towels are not provided.
    The gîte is a member of the Association des Gestionnaires des Gîtes de Montagne (Mountain Gîte Managers Association) network. Pets not allowed.
