Coopérative Provanille (La)

Plantation, Agricultural heritage in Bras-Panon

  • Created in 1968, the Bras-Panon Vanilla Cooperative now includes almost 140 producers. The cooperative has been transforming its members' vanilla pods in the authentic Reunion tradition for over 60 years. The vanilla is grown in the east and south-east of the island where the most beautiful forests are found.

  • The only one of its kind on Réunion, the Coopérative offers visitors 45 minutes discovering the secrets behind the preparation of this famous 'black gold'.
    As part of their heritage, passionate guides will reveal the secrets of the vanilla flower's pollination (discovered by a Réunionese slave, Edmond Albius) right through to the ancestral, traditional process of transforming the vanilla pod.

    Réunion vanilla pods, as well as its derivatives and other artisanal products, are available in the shop, which is open Monday to Saturday, 08:30 to 12:00 and 13:30 to 17:00.
    Tour departure times from Monday to Saturday: 09:00, 11:15, 14:00 and 16:15, every 45 minutes.
    The price includes a guided tour with a vanilla coffee and exhibition after the tour and film.
    A shop has recently been opened in Piton Sainte-Rose: Vanille des Laves, awarded a gold medal in 2019. It is open from 08:30 to 12:00 and from 13:30 to 17:00.
    Reduced rate for groups of 10 and disabled visitors.
