Savanna Distillery, an offshoot of the Bois-Rouge factory, one of two sugar factories on Reunion, reveals the secrets of rum making.
The presentation about the agricultural world of sugar cane in Reunion teaches visitors about the importance of this industry in terms of the island's economy, history and culture.
The sugar distillery visit takes visitors deep into the fantastic world which presides over the magical metamorphosis from plant to sugar. The rum distillery introduces visitors to the meticulous process of creating fine rums, the fermentation processes and the mysteries of ageing in the Savanna Distillery cellars. Round off the visit with tasting sessions in the Tafia & Galabé shop: enjoy the flavours of Reunion Island. -
Shop open all year round except Sundays and public holidays. Opening hours during the sugar cane harvest: 9am to 8.30pm, outside the sugar cane harvest: 9am to 7pm. Guided tours with a prior booking, call us for availabilities.
Precautions and recommendations: Visit not recommended for people who are afraid of heights, those with a severe case of asthma, or with a pacemaker.
