Fontaine Aromatique (La)

The distillery is open all year round. Johan, the distiller, is passionate about plant life and the different scents and he will welcome you to begin your guided tour through the fields, to see his crops; aromatic plants with wonderful scents and medicinal properties.
Then you’re in for an eruption... of essential oils! Here, right in front of the copper still, you’ll see some real magic.
This collector’s item, even “endemic” to Reunion, will reveal some wonderful scents from the plants: lemongrass, geranium, tea-tree, etc. during the distillation process, depending on the season.
It’s now time to taste a syrup or small homemade pastry.
Don’t leave without stopping by the “shop-museum” to see the precious handcrafted items on sale.
This experience is available once every two weeks, at the price of 12 Euros per person (from the age of 10). We strongly advise you to make a reservation (see the schedule or contact the service provider directly).

La Fontaine Aromatique also offers 45-min tours every afternoon between 2:30pm and 5pm: a tour of the fields and then you’ll stop in front of the still. Johan will tell you all about his passion, his work and how the still operates. Your tour ends in the “shop-museum” so you can see all the different essential oils that are distilled right here, as well as other products and ancient objects that were once used in the distillation process.
