  • An illustrious family\'s great estate open to the public.
    The Musée de Villèle in Saint-Gilles-les-Hauts is a former colonial property. The owner’s house, set in the midst of a large plantation, belonged successively to the Desbassyns and Villèle families up until 1927.

  • The interior of this big house with its period furniture and collections of historical documents and art objects, gives visitors an impression of what life was like in the late 18th and the 19th century. The estate covers over 10 hectares.
    Open visits: the garden, the pointed chapel, the kitchen, the slaves’ hospital and the exhibition room.
    Guided visits: the ground floor and upper floor of the main house, and the pointed chapel.
