Temple Narassingua Peroumal

  • Narassingua Peroumal Temple in Saint-Pierre, in the Ravine Blanche district is devoted to the God Narashima, avatar of the Hindu God Vishnu.

  • The temple was built in the 1800s by Indian labourers and restored between 1997 and 2010 by artists from the south of India. This temple generates a lot of local interest, as well as interest from further afield, outside of Reunion Island.
    Narassingua Peroumal Temple came third in the competition, the 14 favourite monuments for the French in 2020. Every year, worshippers come to bow before the God Narashima between September and October.
