  • Exploring the lava tunnels on Reunion Island is one of the rarest and most unusual activities to do on our planet.
In fact, volcanic caving can only be done on Reunion Island.
Visitors are accompanied by qualified caving instructors.
Bazaltik offers tours of two of the most beautiful lava tunnels on the island.

The Bassin Bleu tunnel in Saint Gilles, in the Piton des Neiges massif, is an ancient lava tunnel. Here is where you’ll find the biggest underground chambers on the island.
To reach the entrance, you’ll need to climb up a short route, and abseil on the way back out. This lava tunnel is accessible for children over the age of 6.

The Coulée 2004 tunnel in Sainte-Rose, in the Piton de La Fournaise massif, is a very recent lava tunnel, one of the most recent in the world.
It is also the biggest underground network of tunnels on the island, covering 6.4km. There are 2 routes available in this tunnel, both of which are horizontal.
A discovery trail, accessible for children from the age of 6, takes around 2.5hrs.
A sporty trail, accessible for children from the age of 10, takes around 3.5hrs
