Plantation Vanilla Bourbon
  • The Vanilla Bourbon plantation is in the heart of the Sainte-Rose highland forest, 300m above sea level. This is where the vanilla, so appreciated by the great gourmet chefs and connoisseurs, grows.
The forest, which is home to the 5 hectare farm, is a protected site, containing a variety of endemic species, on an ancient flow dating back to 1708.
Mindful of the environment and our planet, the vanilla is farmed organically in a way which respects nature and the forest.

The Vanilla Bourbon plantation offers guided tours. Tours last approximately 2 hours and visitors learn all about the secrets of vanilla farming: from planting the liane to processing vanilla pods and the main crops of the vanilla plants. The tour continues in the primary forest. This is where you will find endemic, indigenous and exotic species (trees, orchids, ferns and mosses).
Guided tours on Wednesdays and Fridays at 1pm,
Reservations required 24 hours in advance
The plantation is closed for guided tours from October to December for pollination.

Wearing walking shoes or trainers is recommended, as well as bringing rain clothes.
