Far too quickly. We’re used to travelling too quickly. Planning an inordinate number of visits without having the time to do them all justice. Wanting to capture every one of those magnificent landscapes and forgetting to really look at them as a result. Leaving hearts under influencers’ photos rather than actually meeting the people who know their terroir by heart. And what if we slowed down a bit? Away from the madding crowds, away from the traffic, Reunion Island will carry you off to a land of ocean swell and cirques.

Here, the real journey begins where the city fades away. Admire the view over the Indian Ocean in the early morning, savour your Bourbon Pointu coffee while a Reunion stonechat “tek-teks” in the background, surrender to the delicious smell of a curry prepared over a wood fire, try and resist the temptation of nibbling at a lychee or two during a harvest that bears fruit… Quite simply, take your time.
