    The Musée de Villèle in Saint-Gilles-les-Hauts is a former colonial property. The owner’s house, set in the midst of a large plantation, belonged successively to the Desbassyns and Villèle families up until 1927.

  • The inside of this mansion evokes living conditions in the late 18th- and 19th-centuries. It features period furniture, along with a collection of historical documents and objets d'art, amid an estate extending over more than 10 hectares.
    Self-guided tours: the garden, the Chapelle Pointue, the kitchen, the slave hospital and the exhibition room.
    Guided tours: the ground floor of the main residence, the first floor and the Chapelle Pointue.
