Saint-Leu is a fishing village that’s alive with the presence of art, music and culture, as well as sporting events including surfing and paragliding. Every Saturday morning a market takes place by the sea, as well as a fishmonger for fresh products. In the evening, the town comes alive with a great number of concerts at the rondavels or La Ravine. Mr Nicole Payet, an ‘Artisan of Art’ since 1988, owner of La Tanguière and native of Saint-Leu, works with lacquer, the shell of farmed turtles and a variety of materials from the sea.
