Meet Léon

Your audio guide can’t wait to tell you all his favourite tales.

Reunion is

An island where culture, legends and history come together around every corner. A living sound studio that invites you to discover the mysteries of yesterday and today.

Your ideal day

With my headphones on, I start my day to the sound of waves and the octopus fishermen, before exploring Terre Sainte on a scooter, between street art and Creole stories.

Your favourite site

I love the heights when its hot and the lower town when its cold, that way, I always find a good spot!

Your passion

I bring the voices of the past and legends to life through my podcasts, connecting the stories of yesterday with the souls of today. I pass on the island’s history, revealing the treasures hidden in every corner, imbued with mystery and pride.

Your favorite dish

A ‘rougail lontan’ of course! A real symbol of sharing, it brings generations together around flavours and stories. And I, LÉON, capture the laughter, the stories and the memories woven around this dish.

Your favorite artist

The ‘tchaaa’ sound when spices are thrown into a pot of hot oil.

Under the gentle sunshine of Saint-Pierre in the south of Réunion, the Terre Sainte district invites me to explore a unique area. Here, time seems to stand still as I set off on a discovery at my own pace on two electric wheels. I can already see myself peacefully making my way along on a scooter, the sea breeze caressing my face, guided by an innovative app that whispers the secrets of this unique place. Discover this electric-scooter activity like no other, as you delve deep into the history of this traditional fishing district on the island of Réunion

An independent adventure by Mobilboard and Léon app.

My journey starts at Mobilboard, on the Saint-Pierre seafront. Greeted with a warm smile, I pick up my electric scooter and helmet and carefully listen to the briefing. To get the most out of my walk, I download the routes designed by Mobilboard, as well as the Leon app, a Made in Réunion app offering fun, geolocated podcasts on the places and history of Réunion.

Once you’re ready, head for the Terre Sainte district, nestled just beyond the Rivière d’Abord bridge. Here is where I discover all my independence: I can follow the suggested route or give free rein to my desires. I can stop to admire a street-art mural, enjoy a seaside snack or explore a craft shop: anything goes!

Terre Sainte, an authentic and colourful gem

Walking along the seafront, the charm of Terre Sainte is instantly apparent. The majestic banyan trees provide welcome shade, while the sea air encourages me to take a deep breath. This neighbourhood, with its narrow streets and colourful little stalls, is like a real living painting. Fresh fish stalls display the local fishermen’s catch of the day, adding an authentic touch to this tour.

Along the way, the Terre Sainte jetty offers breathtaking views of the Indian Ocean and is home to a picturesque lighthouse. Nearby, don’t forget to stop off at the photographer Edgar’s shop, with his black and white photos that capture the Creole soul of Réunion. Not far from there, the Croix des Pêcheurs offers an ideal vantage point from which to watch the waves. It’s the perfect time to listen to a podcast on the Léon app, recounting the story of this district and its famous people.

With headphones in my ears and a smile on my face, I make my way at my own pace through the narrow streets of this charming district. Around every corner, a new story seems to be waiting for me, like a podcast that starts as I make my way along. This app dedicated to Réunion becomes my guide, offering me countless discoveries: I choose, I flick through the options, I stop as I please. It’s all the freedom of a solo or group walk, enriched by stories that bring every moment to life.

Hidden treasures around every corner

Whether it’s getting lost in the narrow streets or following the main thoroughfare, I always find something to love a little more about Terre Sainte, the famous fishermen’s quarter. Like the Notre Dame du Bon Port Church, with that little je-ne-sais-quoi that carries me away as I step inside.

At ease on my electric scooter, I admire the landscape as it passes by – always different, always surprising. With superb graffiti, the colourful facade of a Tamil temple, little Creole houses with flower-filled gardens: this is a real sample of Réunion’s cultural diversity. It’s a feast for the eyes and I appreciate the freedom of this self-guided tour.

A little further on, in a shop, I was amazed to discover the original creations of various Réunionese craftsmen: a veritable Ali Baba’s cave for lovers of authentic souvenirs.

Along the Rivière d’Abord, I stop in the shade of the trees to listen to a new podcast while watching young people try their hand at kayaking. Next to me, two Réunion locals are playing dominoes, enjoying the cool banyan trees.

An experience to suit me.

This electric-scooter tour of Terre Sainte is much more than just a ride. It’s an invitation to immerse myself in the authenticity and everyday life of Réunion, to savour every moment at my own pace. Somewhere between self-guided cultural discovery and total freedom, this activity reinvents the art of independent sightseeing.
