A festival of colour, fragrance and flavour in the shade of the parasols

What better way of getting a feel for the soul of Reunion Island than to send your senses reeling with an exploration of the island’s markets? And because you’ll be hearing conversations in Creole, now is your chance to try a few words that will inevitably come in handy as you browse the stalls…

To each town its market

Feel the island’s beating heart, get your fill of delicious aromas, feast your eyes on fruit and vegetables you’ve never seen before, and listen to stallholders chatting with the “granmounes” (elderly ladies) who have come, basket in hand, to find something to put in their Creole-style curry (typical local dish)… only at the markets can you enjoy such an experience.  And Reunion Island has no lack of them: a day for each market, a market in every town!
