Ranked as one of the island’s top three tourist attractions, the Trou de Fer waterfalls are Reunion’s answer to Niagara Falls.
It’s a site that is both spectacular and thrilling! Trou de Fer is a crater in the mountainside below Piton des Neiges, with an undercut cliff almost 300 metres deep beneath. Several headwaters plunge down into the Trou de Fer canyon forming a 725-metre high waterfall, which becomes a river called Bras de Caverne, a tributary of Rivière du Mât.
This breathtaking site is best seen from a helicopter.
