Hang'Art

Handicrafts in Saint-Pierre
  • Located a stone\'s throw from Terre-Sainte, a fishermen’s village, the "Le Hang’Art" community gallery is a 160m2 exhibition/art auction space, managed by the association of the same name - Hang’Art 410. Added to the cultural booklet of the town on 6 December 2014, it dropped anchor at the entrance of the harbour master\'s office of the Port of Saint-Pierre, under the complicit eye of the Tourist Office.

  • Such a patchwork of chromatic rectangles, its long façade stretches between the land and the sea, encouraging an artistic port of call... the intrigued passer-by, the worldly traveller, the Rimbaldian seer. And that is where the Art is - from Reunion Island and its people, from here and elsewhere, both novices and amateurs - a poetry of colours and shapes which is available in line with the calendar, according to the labyrinth of changing modules constantly being reinvented.

Such a patchwork of chromatic rectangles, its long façade stretches between the land and the sea, encouraging an artistic port of call... the intrigued passer-by, the worldly traveller, the Rimbaldian seer. And that is where the Art is - from Reunion Island and its people, from here and elsewhere, both novices and amateurs - a poetry of colours and shapes which is available in line with the calendar, according to the labyrinth of changing modules constantly being reinvented.
Undertaken by passionate, committed and sensitive people, the exhibitions offered are part of the "Diversity, Otherness" editorial line, shown as much in the choice of works as in the pluralism of the generations and the often audacious meeting of expressions and artistic experiences of different currents of modern creation.
Therefore, since its creation, it has opened its doors to numerous artists originating from all over the island, from Paris, from Cameroon, from Sweden and from Mauritius.
In their desire to occupy the space, the founding members of this association have been turning the banks of the Abord River into an open air gallery, via "Boranbor" events since 2003.
Exhibitions all year round, open from Tuesday to Sunday, closed every year from 20th December to 9th January inclusive. Closes on Sundays: Easter, Mother\'s day and Father\'s day.
