The Voile de la Mariée, or Bride’s Veil waterfall, owes its name to the diaphanous effect created by the long white cascades of water when the waterfall is in full flow.
Legend has it that a tragedy took place here: beautiful young Amanda Armand fell in love with Henrio, but her widower father did not want to let her leave, and locked her up. She managed to escape but Mr Armand found the lovers at the church altar. The young bride fled, but blinded by her veil she fell over a precipice, though her veil stayed caught on the edge. Mr Armand sobbed his heart out over the bride’s veil.
