The prawn curry

Prawn curry is a traditional Réunion Island dish that is very tasty and easy to make.


Prawn curry recipe

Preparation Time45 minutes
Cooking Time20 minutes


  • Cut up the tomatoes
  • Cut up the onions
  • Remove the kaffir lime zest
  • Chef’s tip : kaffir lime or ginger to taste
  • Put the kaffir lime zest in a pestle
  • Add some salt
  • Add some pepper
  • Grind
  • Heat some oil
  • Sauté the onions
  • Add the mixture of spices
  • Add the tumeric
  • Add the thyme
  • Add the tomatoes
  • Mix
  • Cover and leave to cook for 10 minutes
  • Add the prawns raw or fried in oil
  • Add some water
  • Cover and leave to cook for 10 minutes






(Serves 4)

  • 200 g. of prawns
  • 4 tomatoes
  • 2 onions
  • 8 cloves of garlic
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Thyme
  • Turmeric
  • Kaffir lime


  • At the end of the curry, you can add a little parsley.
  • Enjoy the prawn cari with white rice
  • As an accompaniment to this dish, you can make a little lemon sauce (lemon cut into small strips with the zest, onions, some chilli peppers, oil, salt).
