Romantic stroll

On the Wild South Coast of Reunion Island

Escape for two!

The wild beauty of the South of Reunion Island is the perfect setting for a romantic getaway. Sitting comfortably facing the sheer power of the ocean  and in the shade of the lush vegetation, you can enjoy these superb protected landscapes in the arms of your loved one.

Our favourites

There are a lot of walks to do from Saint-Philippe. We recommend the coastal walk for an experience that will take you through the lush vegetation and beauty of the ocean!

Did you know ?

The colour of Cap Jaune comes from a blend of magma and volcanic lava found in the rocks.

Magical moment at the Piton de Grande-Anse

After an intense morning, it’s time to stop off for a bite to eat! We stop by one of the small restaurants in Saint-Philippe where we quickly get to know the regulars and then taste the local specialities.

On the menu ?

A ‘gratin de pinpin’ and palm salad as a starter and then duck à la vanille for the main course: the iconic specialities of the South!

Our suggestion

If you are looking for the perfect place for a traditional meal in a warm and authentic setting, we recommend Chez Moustache – 9 Rn2 Le Tremblet, Saint-Philippe.

An overnight stay with an ocean view

As the sky turns red and the first stars come out, head to the Palm Hotel & Spa*****, a 5-star establishment with a 3.5-hectare tropical garden overlooking Grande Anse beach. We immediately take note of the little details, since the specialities of the Wild South Coast have followed us all the way to our room!

The Kah Beach is a pretty open-air bar near the sea, for a moment of ultimate relaxation with a breath-taking view of the vast ocean. Akéa Spa is just a stone’s throw away. Tomorrow, we will definitely treat ourselves to a revitalising spa treatment. We head to Makassar, the hotel restaurant for our evening meal and it is also one of the most well-known on Reunion Island. The traditional local products of the island are used to concoct some original dishes. It’s a treat for the taste buds. Spending a night in a lodge surrounded by lush vegetation and lulled by the gentle lapping of the waves, to be awoken in the morning by the singing of the birds, makes this an unforgettable experience.

→ The highlight of this accommodation: The Palm Hotel & Spa***** is the first hotel in the Indian Ocean to be awarded the “European Ecolabel”. It was designed to blend perfectly into the wild and authentic environment of Reunion Island.
