Hiking between “Pitons, Cirques and Ramparts”!

Plan a trek on the waymarked trails of Reunion Island, between basalt canyons and sharp peaks, lush green forests and colourful volcanoes, forgotten islands and secret nooks and crannies, before taking a break to unwind in a lagoon of the Indian Ocean. The Cirques of Mafate, Cilaos and Salazie offer the ultimate trek, via the forest of Bélouve. From the summits of Piton des Neiges (3,071 metres) and Piton de la Fournaise (2,632 metres) you’ll enjoy a breathtaking spectacle and sumptuous panoramic views. To trek along alternative routes that take you off the beaten track, try the Maïdo hike at the foot of the Dimitile massif and the climb back up to the Trou de Fer. To round off your adventure in style, you’ll spend the evening sharing an immersive moment of togetherness with your Reunion hosts, a great way to disconnect! Here’s a challenging itinerary with breathtaking scenery that reveals the geological changes Reunion has undergone, as well as the island’s traditions.

Diving into the undersea world!

Under the supervision of a guide, treat yourself to your first undersea exploration, a swim with the dolphins, or an underwater trail. Observe a whole array of multicoloured fish including parrotfish, trevally, emperor fish, trumpetfish, grouper, leopard moray, tuna, and unicornfish darting in and out of the corals. In the southern winter, you’ll enjoy the privilege of spotting whales and their calves. The marine nature reserve of Reunion Island is an excellent site for snorkelling (with flippers, mask and snorkel) along the Hermitage underwater trail.

Whitewater descents!

Share all the thrill and emotion of a sensational experience in the many rivers, waterfalls, natural pools and canyons suitable for whitewater sports. You can discover these unique and refreshing sites through a whole cascade of activities like aquatic hiking, rafting, canoe-rafting, kayaking and canyoning.

Flying between land and sea!

Hesitate no longer – take to the sky in a paraglider, whiz down a zipwire or do a bungee jump under the supervision of a qualified instructor. Fly like a bird through the sky of Reunion, over the lagoon, the mountains and the luxuriant landscapes as the spectacle of nature unfurls at liberty across the Ultimate Island. Alternatively, you can try other airborne activities such as a flight in a microlight, a parachute jump or a ride in a helicopter.

Surprising places to sleep!

After all that effort, relaxation is highly recommended. Choose your accommodation: you’ll find a wide variety of solutions spread across every part of the island. The IRT information and reservations centre, the tourist offices and the Explore La Réunion website offer plenty of solutions for finding out more or booking your hotel, gite, guestroom, refuge, mountain gite, bungalow, chalet or other holiday rental.
