In the heart of Reunion, follow in the footsteps of the runaway slaves on a land of escapism at the foot of the cliffs. As we walk along, the remoteness of the cirques provides a protective setting, where isolation turns into an intense inner peace.

The cocktail recipe

Glass: Flat-bottomed, old-fashioned cocktail glass

The ingredients

  • 2 cl Lemongrass, verbena and ginger syrup
  • 2 cl Lemon
  • 4.5 cl Rosat gin from the Arômes Distillerie
  • 1 dash of green Chartreuse

Preparing the lemongrass, verbena and ginger syrup

  • 2 Sticks of lemongrass
  • 2 Stalks of verbena
  • 30 g Ginger
  • 500 g White sugar
  • 50 cl Water

 

Rinse the lemongrass, verbena and ginger with water

Cut the lemongrass into little pieces. Put the ingredients into a blender with the water.

Add the sugar

Mix in the blender until the sugar has dissolved. Pass through a fine conical strainer.

Then filter using a tea towel

Put into a bottle

Keep chilled.
